Kashi Vishwanath Temple

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, and is one of the most famous Hindu temples. Kashi Vishwanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganges. One of the most sacred Shiva temples is the 12 Jyotirlingas. The main deity is known as Vishwanath or Vishveshwar. Vishwanath or Vishweshwar means 'Lord of the Universe ’. The city of Varanasi is also known as Kashi, and hence the temple is called Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The tower of the temple is plated with 800 kg of gold.

  Intricate carvings that give divine attributes adorn the exterior of the temple facade. The temple also has several other smaller shrines like Kalabhairava, Vishnu, Virupaksha Gauri, Vinayaka, and Avimukteswara.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is situated on the banks of Assi River and was built in 1900 by freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. It is dedicated to Lord Rama and Hanuman.

Assi Ghat is situated at the confluence of rivers Assi and Ganges. Here a big Shivlinga is installed under a Pimpal tree. Assi Ghat has great religious significance. It is also mentioned in Puranas and various legends. Assi Ghat is the heart of Varanasi and its locals. Tourists flock there to enjoy the amazing view of sunset and sunrise over the Ganges.
