About Us :

Akshardham Temple Delhi is located east of Delhi on the bank of the river Yamuna. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Swaminarayan in East Delhi. It was built on a 2,000-acre site that had been acquired by the Government of India in 1948. The complex was opened to the public by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Dr. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma on 26 November 1981. The basic structure of Akshardham Temple Complex includes two temples: one for Lord Swaminarayan and his son Acharya Madhavnand Dada and the other for their consort Devki Mataji. There are also many other temples within this complex which include those dedicated to deities like Hanuman, Saraswati, and Parvati, etc.; temples that are meant for specific purposes like Brahma Kaushalya Mandir (temple dedicated to God Brahma), Hindu Vishnu Temples, etc.; as well as gardens with beautiful gardens like Meditation Garden; Dhyan Chand Park where devotees can take rest after taking their bath in river Yamuna here at Akshardham Temple Delhi

Built by Architect Kaloori Chandan Rastogi at the cost of Rs 4 lakhs (US$600 million), Akshay Tirtha Temple has become one of India's most popular tourist spots attracting thousands of visitors every day from around the world. The temple complex was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd March 2014 with great fanfare being attended by many dignitaries including President Pranab Mukherjee & Vice President Hamid Ansari among others.

The temple has been built as per Vedic architecture which is known for its scientific approach toward every aspect of life including social structure, governance, and spiritual evolution. This magnificent structure is made from more than 30 million (3 Crore) bricks with each brick being hand-crafted by one person only.

Best Time to Visit Akshardham Temple

This temple is open throughout the year. Summers are hot, humid, and dehydrating. Monsoon is not a good time to go to the temple. The best time to visit the temple is the winter season, i.e. October to February is the best time to visit the temple. A late afternoon visit is best, as you can explore all the attractions. And you can also watch the fountain show in the evening. You will be near the musical fountain in due time.

How to reach

By Train :

The nearest Railway Station is New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS). Akshardham Temple is located in the southeast part of Delhi. This portion is well-connected by metro and road. The nearest metro station is the Akshardham metro station. Exit towards the Temple gate and walk to the Mandir.

By Road :

You can also find buses, taxis, and autos from various parts of the city to reach the temple. It is quite a popular attraction and thus, reaching the temple is not a hard task.

By Air :

The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL)
