Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Delhi Akshardham Temple About Us : Akshardham Temple Delhi is located east of Delhi on the bank of the river Yamuna. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Swaminarayan in East Delhi. It was built on a 2,000-acre site that had been acquired by the Government of India in 1948. The complex was opened to the public by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Dr. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma on 26 November 1981. The basic structure of Akshardham Temple Complex includes two temples: one for Lord Swaminarayan and his son Acharya Madhavnand Dada and the other for their consort Devki Mataji.
