Badrinath Temple


        Badrinath temple is dedicated to the god Vishnu. This is a Hindu temple which is situated in the town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand, India. Because of extreme weather conditions in the Himalayans, this temple is open between the end of April and the beginning of November. It is snuggled in the Garhwal Himalayas on the banks of the Alaknanda river.

        The main entrance gate is named Singh war which is colorful and very attractive. The height of the temple is approximately 50 feet and a small cupola covered with a gold gilt roof is on the top of the temple. 

         The Badrinath temple is divided into three parts (a) the garbha griha (b) the darshan mandap where rituals are conducted and (c) the sabha mandap where pilgrims assemble. At the front of the lord Badri Narayan on a gate, his carrier bird garud is situated. The pillars and walls of the mandapa are covered with intricate carvings.

        Just below the temple, there is a natural thermal spring that is believed to be infused with therapeutic properties. Before a devotee visits the sacred shrine of Badrinath it's necessary to dip in the hot water of the Kund. Narad, narsingh, Sarah, garur, and markanday these five boulders lie near the tapt kund.

        100 meters north of the temple it is a flat platform by the banks of Alaknanda. This place has great importance for Hindus. Here they pay homage to the dead souls of their ancestors. From the hills of Badrinath, this place is located around 2 kilometers far.

Mata murti temple is a sacred Hindu temple which is located at a distance of 3 km from Badrinath. On the right bank of the Alaknanda river, this Devi temple is situated.

Charan paduka is an imprint of lord Vishnu’s feet, lord Vishnu descended on earth from Vaikuntha and is one of the popular attractions of Badrinath. This place is 3 km from Badrinath town.

Jolly grant airport, Rishikesh road, Dehradun, is the nearest airport to Badrinath situated at a distance of 314 km. This airport is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. One can hire a cab or get a bus from jolly grant airport to Badrinath.

By Train:

The nearest railway station to Badrinath is Rishikesh. Rishikesh railway station to Badrinath distance is 259 km. Regular trains to Haridwar and Dehradun are available at all times of the year. One can hire a cab or get a bus from here.

By Bus:

Badrinath is well-connected with motorable roads from important destinations in Uttarakhand state. Badrinath is connected with Ghaziabad by national highway 58.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit the Badrinath temple is from April or May to June and September to October/November. During monsoon, there is a risk of floods, landslides, and other monsoon-related problems.
